Call for abstracts

Submit your abstract and present your scientific research. Travel grants and prizes are available.

ICLGG 2019 is running a call for scientific abstracts from the scientific community. Submitted abstracts may be selected for presention during a talk (15-minute oral presentation), a flash talk (5-minute oral presentation) or as a poster.

  • June 2018 – Abstract submissions open
  • January 11th, 2019 – Deadline – submissions close
  • From February 12th, 2019 – Confirmation of acceptance of abstracts and of presentation mode (oral presentations or poster)

Abstract submission procedure

Prepare your abstract

Please read the abstract submission requirements below to ensure that your abstract will be given the best chance of selection. Download the abstract template

Your abstract should correspond to one or more of the following legume science topics of the ICLGG 2019 scientific sessions:
– Genomes
– Functional genomics
– Seed biology and quality
– Legume diversity
– Plant development and signalling
– Genomics for agro-ecological services
– Symbioses
– Abiotic stress resistance
– Genome enables breeding
– Biotic stress resistance

However, abstracts on the general topics of legume genetics and genomics may also be submitted.

Please note: you must be the presenting author of the abstract you are submitting. 

Submit your abstract

  • Abstract submission takes place using the online registration platform (step 4 ‘Profile’):
    – fill in the field for “Abstract title” 
    – Choose the related sessions (maximum 2 choices)
    – Upload your abstract file (prefered formats: .doc/.docx, .pdf)
  • Your registration must be completed (payment made) for your abstract submission to be taken into account.
  • You may edit your abstract submission on the online registration platform until the submission deadline (January 11th, 2019) – click on the “Organiser questions” tab. After the deadline of January 11th, 2019, no further edits will be taken into account.

You will be informed of the decision of the selection committee from February 12th, 2019.

Abstracts may only be submitted using the online registration platform. Modifications may be made until the submission deadline, January 11th, 2019.

Abstract format

  • Your abstract must be in English
  • Title: maximum 200 characters including spaces
  • Authors’ names: first and middle name initials followed by last name (e.g. “G. B. Kiss”)
  • Presenting author to be underlined
  • Affiliations: using superscript numbers with institutions’ name in footnote below title
  • Text: maximum 1600 characters including spaces (excluding title, authors and affiliations).
  • Figures or tables are not allowed.
  • References: max. 5 references (first author followed by et al., year of publication, journal abbreviation, volume and pages)

Oral presentations

Abstracts may be selected for one of two formats of oral presentation:

  1. Talk – 15-minute scientific presentation (10 minutes of presentation, 5 minutes of questions-answers)
  2. Flash talk – 5 minute scientific presentation 

Abstract authors selected for oral presentations are responsible for providing ICLGG organisers with their visuel supports (powerpoint or PDF) by the required date (to be communicated with confirmation of selection).


  • Poster size: 47 x 33 inches or 118,9 cm x 84,1 cm (height x width, portrait) max.
  • Posters in landscape orientation cannot be accommodated unless they are less than 90 cm wide.
  • Poster presenters will be responsible for printing, transportation, installation and removal of their posters.
